The New Jersey Emerging Artists Series at the Monmouth Museum, Lincroft, continues this summer with an exhibition by artist Jane Dell, a resident of Maplewood.
“Jane Dell – Metaphorical Expressions” features mixed-media paintings on Mylar representing a curious universe of imaginative worlds. Dell explores color, shape and spatial relationships using watercolor inks, graphite, and collaged photo images.
Dell states, “My paintings explore the expressive and metaphorical potential of scale, the poetics of space and mental states. In these works, color, shape, and ironic surprises, set free from their mooring in representation, become vehicles for exploring spatial relationships while serving at the same time as metaphors for the personal, social and technological interactions of contemporary experience.” The New Jersey Emerging Artists Series at the Monmouth Museum features six exhibitions held each year and provides an opportunity for New Jersey artists to showcase their work. The artists selected represent the diversity of talent in the state and demonstrate their creativity in a wide variety of media, including drawing, painting, watercolor, pastel, handmade paper, collage, photography, mobile art, clay, mixed media sculpture and glass art.
The exhibit runs through Aug. 19 at the Monmouth Museum, 765 Newman Springs Road (Route 520), Lincroft. For hours and additional information, call the museum at 732-747-2266 or visit the website at www.monmouthmuseum.org.
