POLICE BLOTTER

Stephen J. Bartzak, commanding officer, West Amwell Township Police Department, reported:
   — On July 24 at about 5:03 p.m., police — in response to complaints from residents of Linvale-Harbourton Road (Route 579) about drivers ignoring road-closed signs due to a bridge out — stepped up checks of the roadway. During the course of one of these checks, Patrolman John Casella stopped Michael Figler, 31 of Allentown, Pennsylvania, who was operating a motorcycle, after observing him in a closed section of the roadway. A computer check revealed he had an active traffic warrant for failure to appear issued by Allamuchy Township Municipal Court. He was processed, issued a summons for driving on a closed section of highway, posted $500 cash bail and was released.
The filing of a motor vehicle summons and/or criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. All parties are to be considered innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
   Lambertville City police reported:
   — A 22-year-old Lambertville resident was assaulted by a group of Hispanic men on July 30 at 2:10 a.m. Sfc. Michael O’Rourke was called to the area of the Lambertville-New Hope Free Bridge to check out a report of a group of people — which had just been involved in a fight in New Hope — walking across. The officer arrived in the area, he saw a group of individuals fighting on Bridge Street. They fled on foot at the sight of the patrol car, leaving the victim behind. The victim was treated for his minor injuries, but he remained uncooperative. The investigation is continuing.
   — Several residents had property stolen from their vehicles sometime during the night of July 22 and the early morning hours of July 23. Items stolen, included a GPS unit, radar unit, satellite radio, two knives and cash. The vehicles were parked on North Union Street and Clinton Street at the time of the thefts. All vehicles had been left unlocked by their owners.
   — A Bridge Street resident reported the theft of her bicycle on July 27. The victim said an unknown suspect had stolen her bicycle from a screened-in porch between 9:30 and 10 p.m. The bicycle was described as a Jamis, Durango model, color teal and black. The bicycle is valued at $450.
Suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
