   Learn Qigong (pronounced “chee-gung”), the practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation.    Back Care Yoga (no meeting Aug. 2) The cost is $55 to benefit the Friends of the Library , payable to the Friends at the time of registration at the Information Desk. This is a mixed-level class suitable for all. Learn strategies to safely bring relief from back stiffness and pain and improve the mobility of your back. This class is for people with a history of back problems and pain, and for those who wish to prevent future back problems. No yoga experience necessary.    Parenting Workshop: Social Skills for Children (All Abilities) between Ages 3-6: at 7 p.m. at the South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Jct.Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to be actively involved in this learning process. The program is conducted by Allison Ingram, a licensed speech specialist, and a certified ChildLight Yoga instructor. Music and movement are a cornerstone of her therapy.

   The South Brunswick High School Viking Closet will hold its first back to school event from 10 a.m. t o 12 p.m. and 1 until 3 p.m. Incoming freshmen and high school students are welcome to shop. The mission is to have the South Brunswick communities, businesses, students, and high school staff donate the basic clothing and accessory essentials for any students who are in need. No forms are required. All items have been donated and in turn all items are free of charge to all students. The Viking Closet is on the third floor of the South Brunswick High School in Room C300. This program is designed to help you move more and have less pain. The instructor will be Nancy Bruneau. This seminar will be led by Phil Rhodes who has worked in the consulting and software industries for more than 40 years. This is an eight-week session and the cost is $24. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen.    A new session of tai chi starts at 10:30 a.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center at the Municipal Complex, Route 522,with instructor June Counterman. This is an eight-week session and the cost is $32. Register in person with payment by Aug. 30. Tai chi combines a type of meditative relaxation process with flowing movements, which results in benefits to both the power of the body and the mind. Tai chi can be especially beneficial to those who have arthritis, are recovering from injuries or must have the lowest impact exercises. This program is open to South Brunswick Senior residents 55+.
