SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Viking 11U team repeats as Branchburg champs

The South Brunswick 11U Gold team repeated as champions in the Branchburg summer baseball tournament last week.
The Vikings went 4-0 in tournament pool play defeating Berkley Heights, Long Hill, Franklin and Branchburg.
South Brunswick then defeated Richmond County from Staten Island, New York in the championship game by a score of 19-2.
Richmond County entered the championship game as the top seed and also undefeated in tournament pool play.
South Brunswick scored 14 runs in the fourth inning behind an incredible hitting performance by the entire line-up.
The game was eventually stopped by mercy rule after the fourth inning.
The Vikings were led by pitcher Steve Peters, who allowed only two runs against the top ranked team.
Nick Cojocar displayed strong fielding at third base by making key defensive plays during the entire game.
This team won the 10U Division of the Branchburg tournament last year by narrowly defeating North Hunterdon by a score of 1-0.
