MONTGOMERY A Belle Mead teenager was flown to the hospital Thursday afternoon after crashing into a tree off of Sunset Road.
Police said the 17-year-old was driving a 1999 Saab sedan westbound on Sunset Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The sedan then went into the opposite lane, left the road and struck a tree near Burnt Hill Road.
Montgomery police, EMS, paramedics and both Montgomery fire companies responded to the scene at 1:54 p.m.
The teenager was extricated from the car and flown to the Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
He received summonses for failure to keep right and failure to wear a seatbelt.
