The event is being held in partnership with The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, part of the Princeton HealthCare System.
Anyone interested in participating should bring a photo ID and drink plenty of water prior to donating. All blood collected at the drive will benefit UMCPP patients.
Lunch will be catered and all donors will receive a coupon for Thomas Sweet ice cream.
The Princeton offices of David Lerner Associates are located at Forrestal Village at 221 Rockingham Row in Princeton.
To sign up as a donor, call 1-877-DLerner.
Cookoff for cancer
Flo’s third annual Chili Cookoff benefiting the Brain Tumor Center at the JFK Neuroscience Institute in Edison, will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, at Lory’s Lakeside along Farrington Lake in North Brunswick.
The benefit is to honor Flo Tempalski — diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme on Oct. 31, 2006, and passed on Oct. 7, 2007.
The day-long event includes live entertainment, Kidszone, arts and crafts, auction, horseshoe competition and what I’m told is some of the best chili you will ever find in New Jersey.
Doors open at 11 a.m., live music starts at noon, and chili sampling begins at 1 p.m.
More information on Flo’s Chili Cookoff is available at http://www.floschilicookoff.com, or by calling 201-600-4617. To learn more about the Brain Tumor Center in Edison NJ, call (732) 321-7010, or visit http://jfkmc.org/the-brain-tumor-center.

Capital Health Regional Medical Center became the first hospital in the country to treat a stroke patient using Trevo after its approval by the FDA earlier this month.
The device was used by Capital Health cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgeon, Dr. Erol Veznedaroglu (also known as Dr. Vez) on Aug. 8. The device, which literally “retrieves” blood clots from within the brain’s vasculature, is used to remove blood clots in patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke, where a blood clot, or thrombus, blocks the flow of blood to the brain.
Capital Health Regional Medical Center is a state designated comprehensive stroke center and the new Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell is a state designated primary stroke center.
