The library at 379 South Branch Road is getting close to wrapping up its summer reading clubs on Sept. 8.
Stop by now to record your minutes, hours and books read and claim prizes. Don’t forget the weekly raffles and trivia questions.
For youngsters, the library is inviting all summer volunteers, program attendees and summer reading participants from grade six to older to a summer wrap-up party. There’ll be food, games, crafts and giveaways. Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
• Friday night movie — “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,” starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Amr Waked, will be shown Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.
• Science show (ages 8 to adults) — The Friends of the Hillsborough Library offer a laser science show by Wondergy at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.
• Afternoon movie — “Friends With Kids,” starring Jennifer Westfeldt, Adam Scott and Maya Rudolph, will be shown Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 1:30 p.m.
• Aromatherapy — Man has always used fragrant plants to heal, uplift, anoint and empower lives. Liz Hoffmann will introduce therapeutic essential oils and their benefits. An atomizer of oils will be given to all who attend. Monday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.
Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
• Youth Stages presents (ages 3-5) — Franklin’s afraid of small dark places — and that means his shell! We’ll become ducks, lions, birds, bears and turtles as we discuss our fears and act out “Franklin in the Dark.” Thursday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m.
• Movie (ages 7 and older) — Best-seller “Spiderwick Chronicles” comes to the screen as a fantasy adventure about the Grace family, who move into a secluded house on Spiderwick estate. All sorts of strange things happen! PG, 101 minutes long. Thursday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m.
• Ghosts (entering grades 6-12) — Ever seen a ghost? Do you wonder if they are real? Gordon Ward shares his experiences and evidence of specters and haunted locations, his views on ghosts, and teaches you how to conduct your own investigations without costly equipment. Thursday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m.
• Zumba for Teens (entering grades 6-12) — Bring a water bottle and dress in comfortable clothes/sneakers. Saturday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m.
• Children’s movie (ages 4 and older) — “Angelina Ballerina Follows Her Dream” will be shown Monday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m.
• Anime Club (entering grades 8-12) — Hang out with your friends as we watch anime and discuss the latest manga. Monday, Aug. 20, at 5 p.m.
• Summer movie (ages 7 and older) — “Puss in Boots,” starring Shrek’s friend, a sword-fighting cat, is offered Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 3 p.m.
• Children’s movie (ages 4 and older) — “Go Diego Go! Moonlight Rescue” will be shown Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. Diego needs your help to put the moon back together.
• Children’s movie (ages 4 and older) — “Scooby Doo, Music of the Vampire,” can be viewed Thursday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. Scooby Doo and the gang visit a Vampire festival.
• Summer movie (ages 7 and older) — “Bedtime Stories,” a movie about magical bedtime stories that start to come true, will be shown Thursday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m.
