CHAPTER A
The incredible focaccia bruschetta! The stacks of assorted hot hors d’oeuvres! Homemade bread, mouth-watering entrees and dessert was a “Hillsborough” cake at Basile’s Italian Restaurant in Freehold. It was worth enduring the monsoons at the racetrack on Aug. 10.
Chapter A meetings are the first Thursday of each month at the Municipal Building. All Hillsborough seniors are invited and may join our club at any meeting. Dues are $5 a year.
Meetings start at 12:30 with doors open at 11:30, allowing time to review upcoming events. Refreshments are served after the meeting.
We will welcome the Hillsborough Rockettes, with choreography by Gloria Padgett, a former Radio City Rockette, as they entertain us at the Sept. 6 meeting.
Executive Board meetings are the fourth Wednesday of every month. Our Dollar Store will be open for the October meeting and merchandise collected up until that time can be given to Mollie Zezulinski.

CHAPTER B
Chapter B members met at the Municipal Building on Aug. 9 for their annual picnic — having it at our usual meeting site turned out great. The committee should be commended for an outstanding job.
Our caterer was Elmer’s from Edison and, as usual, they did a great job — plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, meatballs, onion rings and french fries were available.
Some great bingo games were played and I am happy to say that I did win one game. Later in the day, we were served chicken, corn and watermelon. Everyone went home full and happy.
Our doors opened at 10:30 a.m. and we did do some ticket-selling before we began our feast. We did open up the sale for a second bus for our Oktoberfest celebration, which will be held at Platzl Brauhaus in Ponoma, N.Y. on Oct. 23. The trip includes lunch, beer, soda, cider, dancing and entertainment, for a cost of $75. We have room left and are opening up the trip to seniors other than Chapter B members.
If anyone is interested, call my number listed below. I will see that you are directed to the right person.
Also on sale were tickets for our fall luncheon, which will be Oct. 11 at the Municipal Building. Cost of luncheon is $20 and you will receive a rebate upon attendance.
Members were asked to bring in items for our dollar sale, which will take place at our September meeting. We had a great response; however, many people forgot, so the committee has agreed to use the senior activity room to collect items on Tuesday and Thursday, Aug. 21 and 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Let’s make this a great success.
To all those who signed up for our trip to Monmouth Raceway on Aug. 24, please be at the Municipal Building parking lot to meet the bus, which will leave promptly at 10:30 a.m. There will be grandstand seating and you will have ample time to purchase a snack before the races begin. At about 5 p.m. we will leave the track and head to Basile’s restaurant for a full-course dinner at 5:30 p.m.
Senior activity rooms (located in the Municipal Building) are open to all seniors residing in Hillsborough who are 60 years of age or older. Rooms are open from 9 to 4 each weekday. We ask that you sign in so we can keep a record of how many are using the rooms.
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable, relaxing summer.
