A 28-year-old Hopewell Township woman has been charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools after she was stopped by police on patrol on Larkspur Lane at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10, according to police reports.
Anna Baczyk was stopped by police in response to telephone calls to the Police Department about a suspicious woman riding a bicycle on Larkspur Lane and was knocking on residents’ doors asking whether a “friend” lived there.
During their investigation, police discovered the bicycle she was riding had been reported stolen from in front of the Maidenhead Bagel Co. store on Main Street in the village of Lawrenceville last month. They also found hammers, a screwdriver, wire cutters and needle nose pliers in her backpack.
She was charged with burglary for allegedly entering a Spring Beauty Drive residence by kicking in the rear door on Aug. 7 and then allegedly entering a Denow Road residence through a first-floor window on Aug. 8. She allegedly stole several pieces of jewelry from the two houses, valued at more than $1,500.
She was taken to the Mercer County Correction Center on $36,500 bail.
