Ethnic fair: Holy Ghost Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church, 249 S. 7th Avenue, noon-4 p.m.
In August 2011, the church was devastated by Hurricane Irene. Parishioners worked long hours to replace and rebuild the basement, which houses cooking facilities, and sanctuary, which had filled with about 10 inches of water. See all the work that has been accomplished and enjoy homemade ethnic delicacies.
Menu to include but not limited to pirohi, halupki, haluski, sausage and peppers, hamburger, hot dogs, salads, homemade desserts. Buy food tickets from 50 cents to $3.50. Frozen pirohi by the dozen available for purchase.

Farmers’ market: Fresh fruit and vegetables for sale, rain or shine, from 1 to 6 p.m. on the Main Street sidewalks between Rosalie and North Orchard streets on Fridays through Sept. 28.
Blood pressure checks: Second Thursday of the month, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., VFW.
Entertainment books: Books filled with coupons for local shopping, meals, travel to be used throughout 2012 are on sale for $30 at the senior center, 20 S. 3rd Ave. Call 908-526-0175.
Public library book sale: Buy donated and surplus books to support the library. Nonsale hardcover books are 50 cents; soft-cover 25 cents each or by the bag for $2.
