MANVILLE: Police blotter, week of Aug. 6-12

   A caller reported a vehicle he believed was carrying suspicious items on Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. Police responded to the report on South 5th Avenue, but the vehicle could not be found.

   Somebody walked into the station to report a man sleeping behind the wheel of his vehicle on North Main Street on Aug. 8 at 9:55 a.m. Police responded but the car was gone before they arrived.

   A caller said on Aug. 8 at 5:13 p.m. that a man was standing on South 16th Avenue with a needle is his hand. Police responded but the man was gone before they arrived. .

   Three stolen vehicles were recovered after an Adesa auto auction employee called to tell police on Aug. 8 at 5:15 p.m. that the vehicles were found on the property.

   Loss Prevention Officer Thomas Bennett at Wal-Mart called police to inform them he had accused Kaitlyn Albanese, 26, of Manville of shoplifting. Police responded, took her into custody and charged her.

   A caller reported on Aug. 9 at 10:16 a.m. that a woman said her unlocked car, parked on North Main Street, had her purse, wallet, personal documents and $30 missing from it, according to police. .

   A West Camplain Road resident came to headquarters to report a missing package on Aug. 9 at 7:39 p.m. She believes the $141.18 package was stolen from her home between 10:23 a.m. and 5 p.m. that day.

   Around 8 a.m. Friday, a caller reported being threatened by a Newark man. . The South Street resident said the man told him he would shoot him if he reported his girlfriend to DYFS.

   Police charged Matthew Schaefer, 23, of Edison with driving while intoxicated on Friday at 9:48 p.m. Mr. Schaefer was found slumped over at the wheel of his car on Wilhousky Street. He was later released to his mother.

   A caller reported a large group of people standing in the middle of Washington Avenue on Sunday at 1:20 a.m. Police responded and sent the group of people on their way. .

   On Sunday at 1 p.m. a man reported that someone vandalized his Jeep Cherokee, which was parked on 11th Avenue, with spray paint on the driver’s side and rear windows.
