The Princeton Recreation Department is extending hours at Community Park Pool past Labor Day for the 2012 season.
The pool will be open on weekends only, Sept. 8 and 9, as well as Sept. 15 and 16, from noon to 5 p.m.
The pool complex usually closes for the season on Labor Day.
All pool memberships will continue to be valid through the extra weekend dates and daily admission rates will still be in effect. The wading pool program and adult and senior lap swim programs will not be in effect for the two additional weekends, but the dedicated lap lane will remain open from noon to 5 p.m. The snack bar will be open, weather permitting.
”This is a service that we have offered in some previous seasons that we were not able to offer in 2011 due to our construction schedule,” said Executive Director of Recreation Ben Stentz. “Once school begins, it’s extremely hard for us to round up enough lifeguards to staff a facility as big as CP but we are working hard already to at least get enough staff to open from noon to 5 on these weekends. I certainly hope the pool community will get a chance to enjoy one last swim before we winterize the facility.”
Beginning Aug. 20 through Labor Day, the pool complex will close at 7:30 p.m. instead of the normal 8 p.m. closing time to account for the earlier sunset times.
