NEW HOPE: New flower baskets add beauty to Borough

NEW HOPE — Summer in downtown New Hope is more colorful this year, thanks to the efforts of the New Hope Borough Park and Recreation Board.
Twenty-one street lamps along the borough’s streets have been fitted with new hanging baskets and hay rack planters filled with colorful flowers and fresh green plants.
”We have been planning these decorative flower planters over the past year, and thanks to the borough and to the general public who have supported our various fundraisers throughout the year, we have been able to accomplish our goal,” said Beth Hasher, chairwoman of the borough’s Park and Recreation Board. The Living Earth Home and Garden Center assisted with the design and planting of the baskets.
The borough’s Department of Public Works assisted with the installation of the planters and will maintain and water them throughout the remaining summer season.
The Park and Recreation Board’s next fundraiser will be held on Oct. 18 and will feature a bus trip to museums in Philadelphia and a stop at the Sugar House Casino. For further information, call 215-862-0883.
