College students urged to vote

As college students prepare for the start of a new academic year, Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello reminds them not to delay requesting a vote-by-mail ballot for the upcoming presidential election.
College students are urged to apply now to vote by mail if they don’t plan on returning home to vote in November. The presidential election is predicted by many to create a record surge in vote-by-mail applications at the Mercer County clerk’s office this year.
”Do not wait until October to get your vote-by-mail ballot application processed if you are going away to college. Do it now before you leave for school and avoid unnecessary delays,” Ms. Sollami Covello said.
Voters interested in obtaining a vote-by-mail application in person may visit the Mercer County clerk’s elections office on the second floor in the old courthouse, 209 S. Broad St., Trenton. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Prospective voters also may visit Mercer County Connection in the Hamilton Square/Acme Shopping Center on Highway 33 and Paxson Avenue in Hamilton Township. The satellite office offers evening and Saturday hours.
Voters also may find vote-by-mail applications and voter registration forms by visiting www.MercerCounty.org and going to the section labeled “county clerk.” Forms are available in both English and Spanish.
