Best Jazz Vocal Grammy Nominee at the Hyatt New Brunswick

By Virginia DeBerry
Wednesday, August 22 7pm – 10pm at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick 2012 Grammy nominee Roseann Vitro will perform for the New Brunswick Jazz Project.
The swinging, expressive Roseanna Vitro will lead her quartet in an evening of original music as well as songs from composers Tom Harrell, Duke Ellington, Randy Newman and Clare Fischer (He wrote/arranged for the likes of Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Prince, Michael Jackson, Chaka Kahn and Donald Byrd.).  An official Jazz Ambassador, (sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. State Department and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts) Roseanna has presented concerts and workshops around the world.  Of course you’ve heard her on WBGO-and Roseanna has shared the stage and recorded with an illustrious list of jazz luminaries too numerous to count. She’s performed at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center and list of concerts, festivals and clubs that would fill this entire newsletter. Roseanna launched our first Women in Jazz series in March 2011 and this marks her third engagement for us. And make no mistake, it is quite a coup for us to have Roseanna with us here in New Brunswick!! Her last album, Roseanna Vitro, The Music of Randy Newman was up for the 2012 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Over the past two years we’ve gotten to know Roseanna Vitro, and not only is she a living legend in the world of jazz musicians, she is also a great dame.  She’ll be bringing her band—Mark Soskin on piano, Dean Johnson on bass, Tim Horner on drums. Roseanna will also be introducing vocalist, Krisren Dziuba. Roseanna brings a crowd and we expect a big turnout, so come early for a god seat!
