Ruthie Slovik, of Manville
I recently went to the Manville Borough Council meeting at the municipal building in Manville.
Since I have been living in Manville only three years, I figured that by attending meetings, I would learn more about the town, the people and programs affecting them. I learned some interesting things.
Most of the attendees were, for the most part, lifelong citizens of the town. There is a sense of familiarity, which pervades the proceedings of the meeting. There is great passion and deep concern for the people and the town.
I would highly, highly recommend for other residents to get a bird’s eye view as to what is going on in town and to meet those people who are our public servants.
One could see the degree of professionalism for which they speak to one another and their adherence to parliamentary procedures. By attending the meetings, you also could see firsthand the passion for their hometown.
Yes, I would highly recommend attending. Our public servants work for us, and they take their work very seriously.
If you have a compliment or concern or just want to know how things are going in town, please attend. The meetings are very worthwhile.
