The VFW Post 2290 will be holding its fourth annual family picnic Saturday, Aug. 25, from noon to 5 p.m. at the post on Washington Avenue.
This picnic brings veterans and the community together; everyone is invited to attend.
VFW member Jim Wisor, one of the organizers of the event, said the Rescue Squad will be there as well as a German shepherd rescue group with some dogs. He said he hopes to get the Fire Department to attend. All groups will have displays set up.
Last year, the VFW had the Somerset County SWAT team, which showed attendees its equipment and trucks.
Renny Dilts, also a VFW member, will be the chef and will be cooking favorites. The picnic will feature the traditional hamburgers and hot dogs, ribs, fried chicken, corn, salads, soda and more. Clams also will be available for $5 a dozen.
There will be games, face painting, horseshoes and more with door prizes. A beer tent will be there for those over the age of 21. Music and entertainment will be provided by a DJ.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $7.50 for ages 6-12. Children under 6 are admitted free.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the VFW or by calling the VFW at 908-725-2290.
