Someone from North Main Street came to headquarters at 12:23 p.m. Aug. 13 to report receiving a check in the mail for $3,000.
It appeared to be a scam, police said. The person wasn’t out any money so it was just put on the record.
A caller said a woman knocked on her South 20th Avenue front door at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 13 and asked for a place to stay.
Police located a 19-year-old homeless woman and turned her over to a friend on South 19th.
A man from Roe Industries that items from his shop were recovered near the railroad tracks on Manville Avenue.
Recovered were a stainless steel forklift and multiple stainless steel items.
The Quick Chek manager on Brooks Boulevard called to report several teenagers sitting on the ground in parking spaces and loud music coming from a vehicle at 11:05 p.m. Aug. 14.
Police responded and said they heard no loud music, but told the kids to leave.
Police responded to a fight on Roosevelt Avenue at 8:54 p.m. Aug. 15 and arrested a suspect after a brief foot chase.
James C. Stewart, 46, of Cherry Hill, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Bail was set at $2,500 for each charge, and Mr. Stewart was taken to Somerset County Jail.
County communications reported two mix-breed pit bulls fighting violently at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 16 on East Frech Avenue.
Police and animal control responded. No people were bitten, and the dogs were released to their owners.
A Boesel Avenue resident called said someone was driving on the baseball fields on the street at 11:44 p.m. Aug. 16.
Police found two juveniles who said they were looking for a lost debit card. They were told to come back during the day.
A caller at 8:55 a.m. Friday said a no-parking sign was knocked off its pole in front of Jim’s Soft Pretzels on South Main Street.
The Department of Public Works was notified.
A mail carrier called at 3 p.m. Friday to report he felt he was being harassed by a Brooks Boulevard woman because she let her dog out every time he delivered mail.
Police spoke to all parties and advised the carrier of his rights.
Patrolman John Granahan reported seeing new graffiti in fluorescent paint on the south side of a South Main Street building at 3:04 p.m. Saturday.
Three minutes later, he logged seeing graffiti on the south side of another South Main building.
Similar phrases were written, he said, with some words written nine times in fluorescent paint. At 5:28 p.m. the officer reported similar graffiti on another South Main building.
A caller reported a female slumped over the wheel of her vehicle by the Fulton Bank in the Marketplace at 3:49 p.m. Saturday.
Police found the car and said the woman was taking a nap before attending church.
An irate customer kicked and broke a glass pane of the entrance door to Camplain Liquors on West Camplain Road at about 7 p.m. Saturday.
The store videotape showed a suspect, who was identified. The store owner responded from his Bridgewater home and said he wanted no police action other than to record the incident. Estimated damage was $600.
A CO2 alarm on South 10th Avenue drew police, fire and rescue squad response at 9:13 p.m. Saturday. No illness was reported.
A caller reported a man down on East Camplain Road at 11:11 p.m. Saturday.
Police called for the squad to come to the Arc of Somerset lot for a 58-year-old man. The Hillsborough squad responded and took the man to Somerset Medical Center.
An Alice Street woman said at 4:50 p.m. Sunday she believed someone may have entered her home while she was away.
A window was open, but nothing was taken. She told police whom she believed was responsible and wanted the incident on the record.
Between 2:54 and 3:13 a.m. Monday, police reported five incidents of graffiti on South and North Main street, the railroad underpass and Brooks Boulevard.
