‘Oliver’, the musical version of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist tale, will be presented Sept. 7 to 23 by the Somerset Valley Players at their playhouse at 689 Amwell Road (Route 514). The musical follows Oliver Twist and a ragtag gang of pickpocket urchins along a journey through the high-class opulence and low-life poverty of 18th-century Britain. Oliver learns lessons of love, trust and integrity, while joined by an oddball assortment of vagabond characters. From left, actors Mark Versprille (as Fagin), Richard Sarles (as Oliver), Emily Windus (Nancy) and Chris Rus´soniello (Bill Sykes) enact a scene from the play. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. All seats for Thursdays are $15. Friday, Saturday and Sun´day shows are $18, or $16 for senior citizens and students.
