HILLSBOROUGH: David Frusco gains Eagle rank

David M. Frusco was celebrated by family, friends and fellow Scouts at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony May 21 at the Neshanic Reformed Church.
Scoutmaster Gerry Scillitani was assisted with the presentation of the parents’ pin to David’s parents, David and Lina Frusco.
Assistant Scoutmaster of Venture Bob Paley and James Simpson spoke of the values instilled in youth through Boy Scouting.
David’s Scouting career began as a Tiger Cub Scout in Pack 589 at Auten Road School. He progressed through the ranks to earn the Arrow of Light. In 2006, he moved to Boy Scout Troop 1776.
In six years with Troop 1776, he backpacked more than 200 miles, including in nine states along the Appalachian Trail.
He camped 80 total nights and backpacked, canoed and cycled more than 375 miles. Some of his travels included venture trips to Assateague Island, the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, Georgia and the Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks.
Each Eagle Scout must earn 21 merit badges, serve in a leadership position for six months and lead a service project. He contributed more than 80 hours of service organizing the building of a composting center at the high school.
He graduated from Hillsborough High in June and this fall will attend Rutgers in New Brunswick.
