MANVILLE: Senior Corner column, week of Aug. 30

The Manville Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue. The next meeting is Sept. 13.
The club is comprised of people who are residents of Manville, age 60 or older, and age 55, if disabled.
Canned goods or non-perishable food items will continue to be collected before each meeting, as well as soup labels. Remember to bring one item per member to help stock the Food Bank.
Blood pressure screening is held before the beginning of each meeting for members.
Manville Tax Collector Lisa Gericknot has told seniors that, if you appealed your taxes and were successful, the reduction will show up in your fourth-quarter tax bill. The Homestead Rebate will be applied in your February tax bill.
Lisa will be attending the meetings and will be available from 12 to 12:30 p.m. to help with any questions you may have.
Tickets for the Christmas party to be held Sunday, Dec. 9, at the VFW will be on sale starting with the Sept. 13 meeting. Tickets are $10 for members and $20 for guests. A chart will be set up for seating arrangements; make sure you sign up.
