RED BANK — The Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce (EMACC) Educational Foundation has awarded 14 scholarships to students pursuing their college degrees.

Awards of $1,250 each were made to non-traditional students, with one student receiving the Florence Forgotson scholarship of $2,500. The awards ceremony took place at the Two River Theater in Red Bank.

Scholarships recipients for 2012 are as follows: from Tinton Falls, Alexandra Brady, Jennifer Bredehoft, Nicolas Privetera, and Colleen Roberts; from Oceanport, Ben Bremner and Jillian Campbell; from Eatontown, Philip Fazio, Thien Nguyen, and Shauntay White; from Fair Haven, Carolina Mueller; from Belmar, Kelly Perkins; from Rumson, Lisa Pringle; from Shrewsbury, Elizabeth Przywara; and from Laurence Harbor, Ashley Van Gelderen.

Lisa Pringle received the Devon Group scholarship. Alexandra Brady was awarded the $2,500 Florence Forgotson scholarship.

To qualify for the scholarship, recipients must fall into one of three categories: a college student entering junior or senior year; an adult returning to college whose education has been interrupted; or a vocational student pursuing post-high school vocational education.

The scholarship recipients must also demonstrate a commitment to the community by giving back in some way and either live or work in the chamber service area: Eatontown, Fair Haven, Fort Monmouth, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls.

The EMACC Educational Foundation is dedicated to “the encouragement and promotion of education through voluntary grants, by scholarship or otherwise, to individuals, institutions and organizations.” Since its establishment in 1998, the foundation has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships.
