LAMBERTVILLE-NEW HOPE: Last fireworks display tonight

The 10th and final night!

   ”Notwithstanding any unforeseen emergencies, river heights, weather or wind conditions, Garden State Fireworks has confirmed they will be on site, in New Hope, today (Aug. 31) between 3 and 4 p.m. to prepare for the 10th and final 2012 Friday Night Fireworks display.
   The fireworks will be loaded on the barge stationed at the Waterloo Street pumping station, according to the New Hope Chamber of Commerce.
   ”The river is predicted at-0.9 this evening, and there is a 0 percent forecast of rain this evening between 8 and midnight. The wind is expected at 6 miles per hour, from the southwest.
   Signs, indicating the go-ahead of the fireworks, will be posted at both ends of the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge.
   Tugging to the launch site on the River will proceed at approximately 7:30 p.m. with the support of Tim Yates and his crew, Glen Stephan and Marc Currie. Chris Santore and Jose Santamaria will be the lead onsite pyrotechnicians. Dieter Scheel will captain the on-river safety boat. Steve Williamson will captain the detonation boat. Pleasure boats on the river are required to be 600 feet from the barge.
   We are hosting Garden State Fireworks this evening at the VIP section as well two additional special guests, all of whom will be the countdown group. New Hope Mayor Larry Keller will be the emcee.
   Entertainment this evening will include the music of Sofia Szul & Christian Roebling as well as John Danaher and special guests.
   Volunteers from South Hunterdon Regional High School cheerleading squad will be collecting donations in both the New Hope and Lambertville areas.
   The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. and the show should last between nine and 10 minutes.
