JAMES KUGEL NAMED CAPTAIN LAFAYETTE SWIM TEAM
South Brunswick resident James Kugel, a senior swimmer at Lafayette College, has been named Co-Captain of the Lafayette Mens swim team. Leading the team with Kugel is Victor Giannini of Galloway, NJ.
James Kugel, a three year starter, is a freestyle sprinter and swims the mens 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle events, and is part of the mens freestyle relay team. He is a three time qualifier for the Patriot League Championships where he swam the freestyle sprint events for Lafayette.
Kugel is a Civil Engineering major at Lafayette. He has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor roll and the Lafayette Athlete Honor Roll for his academic studies. Kugel also is as an athletic mentor and serves on the Lafayette Student body government.
Kugel was a 2009 graduate of South Brunswick High School. While at SBHS Kugel was the Captain of the Football team, Captain of the Swim team, played on the Volleyball team, and was elected and served as class president. Kugel won various scholastic and athletic awards, including the 2009 Zinsmeister award for athletic, scholastic, and community service excellence.
Giannini, also a three year starter, swims Backstroke and the Individual Medley. He qualified for the Patriot League Championships for the past three years. Gianinni is a Mathmatics-Econiomics major.
Lafayette College competes in the Patriot league, Division 1AA, and swims against Lehigh, Navy, Army, Bucknell, American, Colgate, and Loyola.
Kugel will graduate Lafayette College in May 2013 and plans to work as an environmental engineer.
