Ribbons intended to raise ovarian cancer awareness
ALLENTOWN — The Webelos of Pack 180 Allentown have turned the downtown teal to remind residents and visitors that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Local organizer and ovarian cancer survivor Terry Veiga coordinated the effort in conjunction with the New Jersey-based Turn the Towns Teal Foundation.
There are more than 120 biodegradable teal ribbons festooning the downtown area in Allentown. Other groups have put ribbons in Mark Harbourt and Byron Johnson parks in Upper Freehold Township.
Ms. Veiga said residents who want to join the public awareness campaign and sport a teal bow or two can contact her or visit Pet Life on Church Street in Allentown, which has agreed to keep a stash of bows, while supplies last.
