   Saturday, Sept. 8 — Troop 1776 is holding a car wash fundraiser at Hillsborough Elementary School, corner of Route 206 and Amwell Road. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $5 cars or $7 for trucks or vans. Money helps troop with expenses (trips, equipment, etc.)
Flea market helps
Fire Company No. 2

   Sunday, Sept. 9 — Hillsborough High School Marching Band and Color Guard students will wash cars as a fundraiser from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hillsborough Elementary School, Amwell Road at Route 206. Cost is $5 per car or $7 per van. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Opening night
unveils stage year
   Monday, Sept. 10 — Hillsborough High School Theatre presents its opening night concert at 7 p.m. in auditorium of Hillsborough High, 466 Raider Blvd. Broadway stars will attend to celebrate the announcement of 2012-13 high school theater season.
   Actors/actresses from “In the Heights,” “The Lion King,” “Sister Act,” “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” and “Wicked” are scheduled to perform. $5 admission donation requested. Season tickets will be on sale. For information, go to www.HHSTheatre.org or call 908-431-6600, ext. 2099.
9-11 remembrances
at two firehouses
   Tuesday, Sept. 11 — Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 will hold a 9-11 remembrance ceremony at the 9-11 Memorial Garden at the firehouse on Woods Road. The event will start at 7 p.m. and will recognize the terrorist attacks on U.S. soil on the day in 2001. The event is open to the general public of all ages.
   Fire Company No. 2 will hold its annual 9-11 ceremony at the Route 206 firehouse at 9:45 a.m. It will last 30 to 45 minutes.
Free food, fun
part of blood drive
   Friday, Sept. 14 — Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning of Somerville will host a “fun and free event” to entice you to attend the Community Blood Council of New Jersey blood drive.
   Service Experts will serve free lunch, from BBQ and burgers to hot dogs, side dishes and sodas, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 185 Industrial Pkwy., Somerville.
   Anyone 17 years and older can donate blood (or 16 with parent or guardian consent).
   Two companies, Fras-Air and General Conditioning, merged about eight years ago to become Service Experts.

Vendor deadline
for fair at church
   Saturday, Sept. 15 — Reserve a spot by today for the Millstone Valley Columbiettes are organizing their second annual vendor fair at St. Joseph’s Parish in Hillsborough on Oct. 24.

   Sunday, Sept. 16 — Harlingen Reformed Church is hosting a Sunday School open house from 10 until 11 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the church at the corner of Route 206 and Dutchtown-Harlingen Road in Belle Mead.    Wednesday, Sept. 19 — Sourland Hills Actors Guild will hold “Seussical, the Musical” open auditions for ages 8 to 88 tonight and Friday, Sept. 21, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kaufmann Community Center, 356 Skillman Road. Garden club to hear
about bonsai plants
   Thursday, Sept. 27 — At its meeting at the Station House in Neshanic Station, the Neshanic Garden Club will hear about bonsai from hobbyist Bob Castronovo. He will also have a sale table. Gym sponsors fair
for its anniversary
   Saturday, Sept. 29 — Powerhouse Gym on Raider Boulevard will host a fall festival as the gym celebrates its third year anniversary in October. The rain date is Oct. 6. Proceeds from health fair and basket auction will be donated to Somerset Medical Center. Exercise classes for adults and children, as well as face painting and other activities.
Charity run seeks
walkers, runners
   Sunday, Sept. 30 — Steps Together is a united team that will participate in the Steeplechase Distance Run in Hillsborough on Sept. 30. For a $25 donation, participants receive guided training via email and invites to attend local training sessions. Eight beneficiaries are participating in the program — five families and three nonprofits. ’Information at www.steps-together.com.

at church tricky tray
   Friday, Oct. 5 — St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church will hold a tricky tray auction. More than 100 gift certificates and prizes, including 42-inch TV, outdoor grill, Kindle, appliances, theme baskets. Doors open at 5 p.m.; auction at 7. Tickets at $10 include one sheet of tickets, desserts. Stuffed cabbage, kielbasi and sauerkraut sandwiches, baked ziti, hot dogs and hamburgers can be purchased.
