CHAPTER B
Our next meeting is Sept. 13 at the Municipal Building. A main event will be our sale of new and used items donated by our members.
I have seen many of the items being sold and I can say you will not be disappointed. You can enter at any of the doors; however, if you come at 10 a.m. for the sale, go to the Senior Activity Room, where the sale is being held. Do not go into the main meeting room until 10:30 or later. Be sure you sign in so you get credit for attendance. Ticket sales begin at 11 a.m.
We will resume our monthly bingo games Sept 20. Tickets are $3 and this includes a hot dog lunch with chips, drink, snack and two hot dogs. This is the best bargain in town. All seniors are invited — no tickets will be sold at the door.
On Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. Hillsborough High School is sponsoring a concert featuring some Broadway cast members and tunes from hits, including “In The Heights,” “Sister Act,” “Lion King,” “Wicked” and “Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark.” A donation of $5 is requested. Reception to follow.
Fifty-two Chapter B members headed to Monmouth Raceway on Aug. 24. From the moment everyone entered our beautiful and new bus with our great driver, John, I knew the day was going to be great — and it was. Our members have gotten to think like pros and we had a few small winners.
After the races, we boarded the bus ready for dinner. We were not disappointed. Basile’s in Freehold was a wonderful restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful. Everyone went home with food for dinner the next day, tired but very happy.
Spots remain for the Oktoberfest trip at Platzl Brauhaus in Ponoma, N.Y., on Oct. 23. The day includes lunch, beer, soda, cider, dancing and entertainment, for $75.
Trip group leader is Phil Stoltz. He can be reached at 908-359-6068.
Other tickets being sold in September:
Fall luncheon — Thursday, Oct. 11. Cost $20 ($15 rebate upon attendance)
Tropicana Casino — Monday, Dec. 3. Cost of $40 includes bus trip, $15 slot play and a show entitled “Hollywood Canteen Holiday Show.” Lunch on your own. Great bargain.
Senior activity rooms (located in the Municipal Building) are open to all seniors residing in Hillsborough who are 60 years of age or older. Rooms are open from 9 to 4 each weekday. We ask you to sign in so we can record how many are using the rooms.
