CME Associates, a civil engineering firm with offices throughout New Jersey, was recently recognized by several national organizations.
CME Associates and its client, the Joint Meeting of Essex & Union Counties, received the 2012 National Environmental Achievement Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) at the organization’s award ceremony on Feb. 13 in Los Angeles.
On June 7, the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE) awarded CME its Private Practice Professional Development Award at a reception in Trenton.
CME Associates was honored by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) with the Professional Development Award from the PEPP (Professional Engineers in Private Practice) in San Diego on July 13.
CME Associates received the NACWA’s Operations and Environmental Performance Award for the Cogeneration Facility at the joint meeting of Essex and Union Counties facility. Designed by CME Associates of Parlin, the facility reduced the use of hydrocarbon fuels for the production of electricity and heat in running the wastewater facility, thereby reducing the facility’s environmental carbon dioxide footprint and pollutants discharged into the air. By using methane gas, the program has resulted in a reduction of the equivalent of 28,541 gallons of fuel oil based on a three-year average of fuel usage (2007-2009 natural gas and fuel oil). In addition, utilizing methane gas to fuel the generators removes pollutants that would have been released though the “flaring” of excess methane, which occurred prior to installation of the new generators. This project has saved over $1.75 million in combined heat and power per year to the client.
The Private Practice Professional Development Award, given annually by the NJSPE, is presented to a nominated private practice firm employing engineering personnel that has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement and improvement of the engineering profession through its policies and practices.
Since 1960, the NSPE’s Professional Development Award is given annually to recognize engineering employers who have made significant contributions to the advancement and improvement of engineering practices.
CME Associates has offices in Parlin, Howell and Monmouth Junction.
They are the municipal engineers for Sayreville, South River, Milltown, North and South Brunswick, East Brunswick and Plainsboro, as well as the consulting engineer for the townships of Woodbridge, Monroe and Old Bridge.
