HAR SINAI TEMPLE SCHEDULES HIGH HOLY DAYS SERVICES
Hopewell Twp. – Har Sinai Temple will celebrate the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) with a series of services appropriate for different ages and the meanings of the separate holidays.
          On Sept. 16, the congregational service for Rosh Hashanah Eve will be held at 8 p.m.
          The Rosh Hashanah Day services for the congregation begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 17. The Junior Congregation service, designed for children from 3rd to 6th grades begins at 11 a.m.
          Beginning at 2 p.m. on Sept. 17, the First Day Rosh Hashanah Young Children’s Family Service and Community Tashlich Service, during which bread is thrown into water as a symbol of casting off sins and fears, will be held at the temple. Participants are asked to bring bread and to note that all ages are welcome. No tickets are required for the 2 p.m. service that is open to prospective members as well as friends.
          On Sept. 25, the Eve of Yom Kippur/Kol Nidre, Har Sinai will hold an 8 p.m. Kol Nidre service at 8 p.m.
          For Yom Kippur, a day of fasting and introspection celebrated on Sept. 26, there will be a 10 a.m. morning service; 11 a.m. Junior Congregation service; 12:30 p.m. "Ask the Rabbi" discussion hour; 2 p.m. Young Children Family Service; 3:15 p.m. Afternoon service; 4:30 p.m. Yizkor service and 5:15 p.m. Neilah Service, to which families are invited.
          Unless otherwise indicated, services will be held at Hopewell Valley Central High School’s Performing Arts Center, 259 Pennington-Titusville Rd. in Pennington.
