Sonia Sanchez Featured at 14th Annual Delaware Valley Poetry Festival

Award winning poet, playwright, and activist Sonia Sanchez, will read from her works at the 14th annual Delaware Valley Poetry Festival held in collaboration with River Union Stage on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the historic Prallsville Grist Mill along the Delaware River in Stockton, NJ. Rounding out the afternoon of poetry will be New Jersey poets Skye Van Saun, Charles H. Johnson, and Laine Sutton Johnson. Ms. Sanchez will be signing books immediately following the event. Admission is free. Donations are welcome. Seating is limited and first-come, first-served.
Ms. Sanchez adds her name to an impressive list of distinguished poets who have read at the Delaware Valley Poetry Festival, including former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, Pulitzer Prize winners Paul Muldoon, Philip Schultz, Louise Gluck and Rita Dove (the latter two also former U.S. poet laureates), National Book Award winner Gerald Stern, and award-winning poets Thomas Lux, Maria Mazziotti Gillan, Stephen Dobyns and Diane Wakoski. The series has also hosted a number of outstanding poets from New Jersey and the region, including Cat Doty, Linda Radice, BJ Ward, Joe Weil and dozens of others.
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders, through funds administered by the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission.
