New Year begins

Combine excitement and a bit of anxiety and you have the atmosphere for new and returning students to Constable Elementary School Thursday.
”It is like New Year’s Day for us,” new Principal Amanda Rosenberg said as she greeted students and talked with parents outside the Kendall Park school before classes started.
Students lined up for her greeting in front of the school, many arriving early for the first day of classes.
Some students and parents posed for pictures in front of the school’s sign on Constable Road before the day started.
”It is a tradition,” parent Annmarie Kelleher said as she helped her 6-year-old twins Julia and James take pictures of their younger sister Ava, 3, as she started preschool for the first time.
Inside the building, 19-year veteran Kindergarten teacher Joanne Kirk prepared her classroom for an incoming class of 20 students.
Ms. Kirk said she was excited about the start of the new school year and was looking forward to the new students.
While there was excitement, Christian Farrell, 6, showed some nervousness as he walked to school for the first time with his father Terence.
Schools Superintendent Gary McCartney said Wednesday that he was also “very excited” about the upcoming school year and looks forward to the success of all the students in the district.
