WEST AMWELL — West Amwell Township’s “Celebrate West Amwell” Agricultural Dinner is set for Sept. 14, starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.
”The dinner is really an outgrowth of our country fair,” township Clerk Lora Olsen said at the Aug. 28 meeting of the Township Committee.
”Food that will be served at the dinner will be prepared by local chefs.”
Local produce will be used in the meals to be served at the dinner, which will be held at the West Amwell Firehouse, at 24 Mt. Airy Village Road.
A silent auction and hors d’oeuvres will get things started at 6:30 p.m.
Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m.
Auction results will be announced at 9 p.m.
Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Amwell Fire Department and the 2012 West Amwell Country Fair.
Seating is limited. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Clerk’s Office (in the municipal building) at 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road.
Local farmers and gardeners have been asked to help with this event by dropping off the following at firehouse between 4 and 8 p.m. on Sept. 7:
— Herb — rosemary, sage, oregano, basil and garlic.
—Vegetables — onions, corn, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers and potatoes.
— Fruit — peaches, raspberries and melons
— Meat (ribs) and eggs.
It was also announced that the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Amwell Fire Department will host a Roast Pork Dinner at the firehouse on Oct.9, from 4-7 p.m. Tickets are $12.
Ms. Olsen also reported that Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G) will continue trimming of trees in the public right-of-way in portions of the township through 2013.
