EAST WINDSOR: Firefighters battle vehicle ablaze

By Staff Report
EAST WINDSOR — Last Friday night, on Aug. 31, flames filled the twilight sky just before 8 p.m. as a vehicle caught on fire near the intersection of Wycoff’s Mills Road and Probasco Road.
That evening, the East Windsor Police responded to a reported car fire and, upon patrol arrival to the scene, a vehicle was observed to be engulfed in flames in the area of the engine compartment, according to a Police Department press release.
East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 firefighters were dispatched along with East Windsor Rescue Squad District 2.
The fire was extinguished by arriving fire personnel, police said.
There were no injuries and the fire was determined to be non-suspicious, police stated.
A witness told the Herald that the owner of the vehicle noticed that his car, a Nissan Maxima, was smoking, and then the owner and a friend pushed it into a court off Probasco Road — after which time the Nissan then caught on fire.
