POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Sept. 7

East Windsor
   At 10:24 a.m. Aug. 28 officers responded to the Home depot for a report of an intoxicated man entering a vehicle, police said.
   Officers approached the vehicle identified by the witness and found the suspect, Kevin Bowes, 32, of Toms River, behind the wheel in a handicapped space with the ignition key in his hand, apparently asleep, police stated. He was awakened and the officer observed an open wine bottle on the pavement next to the vehicle.
   Police said Mr. Bowes had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and slurred speech.
   Mr. Bowes was transported to Princeton Medical Center due to his level of impairment. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and handicapped parking violation.
   An unnamed complainant reported that his unsecured vehicle was entered while parked in the Walmart parking lot and his wallet, containing approximately $100, a debit card and personal papers, were stolen from inside the vehicle between 5:45 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. Aug. 29, police said.
   Officers responded to an alarm at the McKnight School on Twin Rivers Drive at 3:14 a.m. Sept. 2, police said. Upon arriving, the officers saw two men, Timothy Norris, 23, of Jefferson Drive, and Robert Dougherty, 23, of Kellington Drive, flee from them on foot and exit the school.
   Police said the men ignored orders to stop and were eventually caught by officers. Mr. Norris had a bottle of beer in his possession when he was fleeing officers, police said.
   Mr. Norris was charged with criminal trespass, obstruction of justice and public alcohol consumption.
   Mr. Dougherty was charged with criminal trespass and obstruction of justice.
   Both men were later released pending court action.
   Henry Serrano, 24, of Gardenview Terrace, was charged with driving while intoxicated at Wawa near 3 a.m. Sept. 2, according to police.
   The officer responded to the Wawa store for a report of a possible intoxicated driver entering a gray Toyota and leaving the parking lot. The vehicle was located as it pulled out of the parking lot, sounding its horn, police said.
   Police stated that the vehicle continued operating in an erratic manner and was stopped on Hickory Corner Road. When stopped, the officer observed the driver, Mr. Serrano, and the passenger switch seats. The driver was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and was given field sobriety tests.
   In addition to driving while intoxicated, Mr. Serrano was charged with improper use of horn, improper emerging from private driveway, failure to maintain lane, failure to wear seatbelt, careless driving, reckless driving, open container in motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle.
   He was later released pending court action.
Hightstown
   At 12:20 a.m. Sept. 1 on Franklin Street, officers arrested David Cusumano, 23, of New York, New York, and charged him with contempt of court, police said.
   Mr. Cusumano was stopped for speeding, traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph speed zone, according to police. A credential check revealed Mr. Cusumano had an active warrant in the amount of $130 issued by West Orange Municipal Court.
   Mr. Cusumano was taken into custody and was later released after paying the fine.
   Police said that at 10:33 p.m. Sept. 1 officers arrested Jose Delgado-Guevara, 30, of Etra Road, East Windsor, on Bank Street and charged him with providing false information to a law enforcement officer and urinating in public.
   While on patrol officers observed Mr. Delgado-Guevara urinating on the corner of the Public Works building and approached him, police stated.
   While investigating the incident Mr. Delgado-Guevara provided a false name and date of birth to the officer, which was revealed when he confessed to such after finding out that the name and date of birth provided had an active warrant, according to police.
   Mr. Delgado-Guevara was taken into custody and later released on a summons complaint with pending court action.
   Between 11 p.m. Sept. 1 and 2 p.m. Sept. 2 on the 100 block of Second Avenue, a resident reported that an unknown person or persons entered into the victim’s vehicle and stole an iPhone 4 and a tire key totaling $500, police said. The vehicle was reported to be unlocked during the incident.

   At 12:25 a.m. Sept. 4 on Mercer Street, officers arrested Jessica Coefer, 23, of Hamilton, and charged her with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane, police said.
   While on patrol, officers observed Ms. Coefer cross the fog line almost striking the curb and then back across the center line of the roadway, police said. Ms. Coefer was stopped for the infraction and the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
   Police stated that Ms. Coefer was given field sobriety tests, which she failed, and was taken into custody.
   At police headquarters Ms. Coefer submitted breath samples that resulted in a reading of 0.08 percent BAC. Ms. Coefer was later released with pending court action.
   Between 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21 and 8:37 a.m. Sept. 4 on the 300 block of Second Avenue, a resident reported that an unknown subject or subjects entered into the victim’s vehicle and stole an iPod docking station and a Swiss Army knife-flashlight combination, with a total value of $130, police said. The victim was unsure if the vehicle was left unlocked, but there were no signs of forced entry.
