Princeton Township Committeeman Lance Liverman has an Oct. 9 trial scheduled in Hopewell Municipal Court on driving while under the influence and related charges stemming from a car accident last month.
On Aug. 9, Mr. Liverman was travelling south on I-95 from Philadelphia, when allegedly sideswiped a tractor-trailer idling on the shoulder. State Police have alleged that Mr. Liverman refused to take a breathalyzer test, which automatically meant he was charged with DUI, under state law. He also was charged with failing to take the test and related motor vehicle offenses.
Mr. Liverman, who could not be immediately reached for comment, has pleaded not guilty. Hopewell municipal prosecutor Robert Yostembski said outside court that he had made a plea deal on Tuesday to Mr. Liverman, but he would not comment on terms of the offer.
Mr. Liverman, a Democrat, has been on the Township Committee for eight years. He is running in November to serve on the governing body of the consolidated Princeton.
