HILLSBOROUGH: Learn about Lincoln’s view of morality

   Through September, the Hillsborough library is hosting a traveling panel exhibition on Abraham Lincoln.
   The exhibition, “A Man of His Time, A Man For All Times,” includes high-quality reproductions of documents and images that trace President Lincoln’s life and legacy. It also features excerpts from speeches and quotations and invites visitors to understand the challenges and accomplishments through Lincoln’s own words.
   The exhibit was developed by the Gilder Lehrman Institute with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
   Sunday hours have begun — 1 to 5 p.m.
   The Friends of the Hillsborough Library invites kids and adults to “Celebrate New Jersey” on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m.
   In conjunction with the Somerset County Historical Society, author Linda Barth will be a guide to the Garden State’s amazing places, history and present endeavors. Ms. Barth will also introduce her new book, “Hidden New Jersey.”
   Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
   • Zumba — Series runs Wednesdays until Oct. 10, starting at 7 p.m. As long as you’re moving and having fun, there is no wrong way to Zumba. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. A library release/waiver must be signed.
      • Introduction to Microsoft Exel 2007 — This class will cover the same material as the two-session class. A limited number of library laptops are available for the attendees use. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m.
   • Introduction to Pinterest – Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.This class will provide an introduction to the virtual pinboard website Pinterest.com. A limited number of library laptops are available for attendees use. Registration is open now.
   • ESL Conversation Group — Mixed-gender ESL conversation group sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers. The program starts at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, and runs through Dec. 10. Must know basic English.
   • Afternoon movie — “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” starring Judi Dench, Bill Nighy and Maggie Smith, will be shown Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 1:30 p.m.
   • Beekeeping — Local beekeeper Pier Guidi informally presentats what it takes to keep your own bees, produce honey and enhance your garden and back yard. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m.
   • Museum Pass — Become familiar with the library’s new Museum Pass program, which allows you to reserve and borrow museum tickets for a selected museums. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
   • Sustainable Gardening — Using the presenter’s own property as an example, master gardener C. Kallas demonstrates how practical measures over time can make your gardening experience more environmentally sound, pleasurable and economical. Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.
   Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
   • Tail Waggin’ Tutors (grades K-4 only) — Children read to Therapy Dog International’s Xena, who will listen to each registered child for 10 minutes. Online registration is not available; call or stop by the Children’s Desk. Arrive early; if you are late you will lose your slot. Monday, Sept.17, from 4 to 5 p.m. and on Oct. 3, 22 and 24. All sessions are from 4 to 5 p.m. Separate registration is required for each program.
   • Music to Move By (ages 2-6) — Join Ann Wild and introduce your child to music and movement in this interactive program. Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m.
   • Monday Morning Moms (for parents/caregivers) — This week’s topic: Somerset County Head Start. Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.
   • Stories for 4s, 5s and 6s: A fun family storytime on school! No registration required. Monday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
   • Toddler Time for 2’s and 3’s ABCs— Stories and songs. No registration is required. Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
   • Rhyme Time (for newborns to 24 months) — Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun. Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m.
   • Kindermusik (newborn to 3 years) — Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.Join Kindermusik’s Ms. Jenni for quality entertaining music that helps your child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, nurturing, family-friendly setting.
   • Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s: Friendship – A fun family storytime! No registration required. Monday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m.
   • Toddler Time for 2’s and 3’s: Counting – Introduce the pleasure of books to your child! Join us for stories, songs & more. No registration is required for this program. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.
   • Rhyme Time (newborn to 24 months) — Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun! Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m.
   • Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) — Brand-new readers will discuss a book, do activities and make a craft. Please read the book before the program. Copies will be available at the Children’s Desk. The program on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. will be on “‘Mr. Putter and Tabby Ring the Bell” by Cynthia Rylant.
   • Art Adventures (ages 4-6) — Learn about famous artists and take your own masterpiece home. (Some projects may be messy, so dress in play clothes.) This mirror program is on symmetry. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m.
   • Crafts for 4’s, 5’s and 6’s (ages 4-6) — Make a self-portrait craft with your preschool or kindergarten child. Thursday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m.
   • Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — Reliable teen volunteers are wanted to provide assistance during Lego Club programs. You must register for each individual session. Volunteers will earn community service hours for attendance. Space is limited to four volunteers per session. Thursday, Sept. 27, at 3:45 p.m.
   • Lego Club (grades 1-5) — Hang out with other Lego-maniacs and have fun building together. Thursday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m.
   • Story and Craft (ages 2-6) — Listen to a story and create a handprint autumn tree craft to take home. Friday, Sept. 28, at 10 and 11 a.m. and Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.
