A twin-engine airplane overturned while making a landing at the Central Jersey Regional Airport at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
Police arrived to find the plane’s two occupants had been helped out of the 1980 Beechwood by bystanders. Police said the plane hit a metal fence and a parked trailer on the northwest part of the airport, which has its access road on Millstone River Road.
Alfonso Meghnagi, 44, of Princeton, suffered a lower leg injury, police said, and Stuart Rosenberg, also 44, of South Orange appeared to have minor injuries.
Mr. Meghnagi was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital by the N.J. State Police Northstar helicopter. Mr. Rosenberg was driven by the Hillsborough Rescue Squad to the same hospital.
Coming to the scene were Manville and Hillsborough police, Hillsborough Rescue Squad, the Hillsborough Fire Safety Office and units from township’s fire companies 36, 37 and 38. Somerset Medical Center’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit and county prosecutors were there, as were people from the state and federal offices of emergency management, transportaand aviation.
