From David Boyne Robbinsville
To the editor:
Based on the Trenton Times article last week, I am compelled to respond the ridiculous accusations that were made in the eleventh hour of the May 2010 election.
In the final days leading up to that election, a letter was sent to the residents of Robbinsville. In that letter, I, like so many before me, was victim of the mudslinging politics in Robbinsville. As your elected official, I challenged and debated some spending that I did not think was in the best interest of you, the taxpayer. Rather than having a fact-based, open discussion on the issues, some of our politicians chose to create fictional stories to attack and damage my character. Unfortunately, I am only one of a long list of respectful residents whose character has been ruthlessly and falsely attacked.
To set the record straight, I never had and still do NOT have a conflict of interest that precludes me from fully serving this community as a member of the Robbinsville Township Council. This is not just my opinion. During 2010, I proactively requested the NJ State Board of Ethics to render a consultative opinion and they found there was no conflict.
I am very enthused by the many residents that have reached out to me and expressed their disdain for the behavior of the politicians that were behind this letter. Our town is a great town that needs solutions to some challenging problems. Real solutions come through a council that has a broad base of experience, diverse views and transparent discussion of issues facing our residents.
If elected, I would be the only member of the council that has professional financial experience. In addition, I have shown the residents of Robbinsville that I will not be bullied into backing down in solving the important issues that face our town.
