MANVILLE: Library Happenings column, week of Sept. 13

   The library has reopened as a branch of the county library system and has new hours. The library will open at 10 a.m. every day except Sunday. It will close at 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
   Manville residents who have a library card should not discard it. It will be your card to use at any library within the Somerset County system. You will not be issued a new card. New cards will be created for those who do not have one.

   Movie night: “Get Low,” starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray, will be shown for free at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19.

   Kids’ craft: Free program on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 3:30-4 p.m. Registration is required.

   Story time: Registration runs to Sept. 28. The first session will start on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 1-2 p.m. Children must be 3 ½ by Aug. 31.

   Adult craft night: Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 6:15 p.m. Registration is required. Please bring a glue gun and scissors.

   Chess class: The free class, which is open to all ages, will meet in the Quiet Room on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8. All are welcome.

   Gifts for the library: If you have new books, DVDs and CDs that you no longer need, consider donating them to the library. In addition, IRS tax-deductible monetary contributions are accepted. Donations are greatly appreciated.

   Books for sale: The library has ongoing book sale of a variety of children’s, juvenile non-fiction, biography, fiction, non-fiction, mystery, science fiction and more. Hardcover books sell for 50 cents, softcover 25 cents or by the bag for $2. VHS tapes are three for $1.

   Crochet and Knitting Club Too: The next meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 6:15-8 p.m. in the Community Room. Bring your yarn and needles and join us. All are welcome, whether you are a novice or experienced.

   Cost of copies: Due to the cost of ink cartridges, the library Board of Trustees has raised the price of copies. Black-and-white copies are 25 cents each. Color copies are 50 cents.
