6th Annual NJ Independent South Asian Cine Fest, Oct 5-7, Edison, NJ

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, the renowned director of the films “Rock Star”, “Jab We Met” and “Love Aaj Kaal”, will kick off the 6th Annual NJ Independent South Asian Cine Fest (NJISACF). The event will take place from October 5-7 at the Big Cinemas 8 in Edison, NJ.
Film lovers will experience a varied collection of shorts, documentaries and features by new and established filmmakers from the entire South Asian region. The festival will also include enlightening panel discussions, interactive Q&A sessions, an awards ceremony, and a closing night party.
Media company Kan Kan Film Ventures of India will be on hand to meet short filmmakers. Kan Kan Ventures (www.kan-kan-ventures.com) is looking for films, documentaries, and music videos from independent and motivated short film and documentary makers in North America. Kan Kan aspires to be the world’s leading mobile video content provider (short-form), distributing non-feature video content, namely short films and webisodes, documentaries, music videos and games. They aim to put together the largest, most diverse collection of “short-form” entertainment content in the next three to five years. They will entertain its audiences on the go and on-demand, via tablets, smart phones and other hand held devices.

*Screening of the film “Dekh India Circus” directed by Mangesh Hadawale and starring Tannishtha Chatterjee
*An East Coast premier of Unni Vijayan’s “Lessons in Forgetting” starring Adil Hussain
*Special screening of the new film “Listen Amaya” starring Deepti Naval and Faruque Shaikh
*North American premiere of the award-winning film “Guerrilla” from Bangladesh
*Children’s Film Corner: 2 hours of free screenings of new and rare children’s short films, followed by panel discussion on the theme of cinema and its cultural impact on kids
