Music composer Ronald A. Hemmel, of New Hope, will be the featured artist on Sept. 16, at Living Waters Lutheran Church (11 Old York Road, Ringoes), as part of Living Waters’ ongoing “Inside The Artist’s Studio” series.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a wine-and-cheese reception, followed by a one-hour presentation from 6:30-7:30 p.m., during which time Dr. Hemmel will discuss the inspiration behind some of his numerous compositions (which have included sonatas for piano and organ, choral music, instrumentals, and small and large ensemble pieces — including scores for the Montgomery High School Concert Band and for the opening convocation of Rider University’s Westminster Choir College).
A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of his “Opus 3, No. 6,” which will be performed by Shannen Kahler, pianist at Living Waters.
Dr. Hemmel teaches music theory and composition at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, where he also serves as artistic director of the Music Computing Center.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Westminster Choir College; a master’s degree from James Madison University; and both the master of philosophy and doctor of philosophy from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and is a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists.
Admission is free and all members of the community are invited to attend.
