LAMBERTVILLE: Engraved bricks are available

LAMBERTVILLE — The Civil War Memorial monument in Mary Sheridan Park, at the corner of York and George streets in Lambertville, has had a facelift.
Engraved bricks were sold to raise money to replace the broken asphalt surrounding the monument and its walkways with brick.
If you missed out on purchasing an engraved brick during the first phase, you can get your order in before Oct. 15 for installation in time for the holidays.
The bricks placed on hallowed ground at the base of the monument are reserved for honoring veterans; the walkway bricks have names of families, friends, pets and businesses.
Besides replacing the broken asphalt with brick, the monument has been professionally cleaned. More money is being raised to make necessary repairs to the monument, hopefully before winter to avoid any further damage.
A 4-by-8 inch brick engraved with three lines costs $50. An 8-by-8 inch brick with six lines costs $100. For $125, a business or organization can get an 8-by-8 inch brick with six lines. For $500 an 8-by-8 inch brick is engraved with the business logo.
This time around, the cost of shipping and handling has to be added.
Order forms are available at City Hall, or through the website: lambertvillenj.org, or by calling Deborah Galen, 397-3044; Stacy “Sarge” Rose, 908-268-9557, or Maryann Ranson, 397-9110.
