LAWRENCE: Police searching for missing man, 87

The search is on for an 87-year-old Lawrence Township man who has been missing since Saturday, Sept. 15, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Vernon F. Melville was reported missing by his family.
Mr. Melville, who wears eyeglasses and walks with a cane, was wearing a tan jacket, a plaid shirt and a hat when he told a neighbor he was going for a walk around the block. He has not returned.
Mr. Melville, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds, was believed to be carrying a wallet with identification. He does not drive, and has been known to travel by bus in the past.
He has family in Virginia, Texas and New Jersey. He has not attempted to contact any family members since Sept. 16.
Mr. Melville carries a cell phone with him, and one signal was received from the cell phone in the Baltimore, Md., area on Sept. 15. A second signal was received from Wilmington, Del., on Sept. 16, but there have been no additional signals.
Mr. Melville is on blood pressure medication, but he did not have it with him. He has been entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.
