Hillsborough Jr. Raiders Game Summaries
   September 15, 2012
   Division I (Grades 7-8)
   The Michigan Wolverines blanked the Pitt Panthers, 18-0, on Saturday in Hillsborough. The Michigan defense, led by Matthew Hendrix, dominated and surrendered only two first downs in the game.
   Outstanding offensive line play led by Christian Graverson and Tony Geremia paved the way for Jordan Foust’s 2 TDs. Matthew Hendrix, the game MVP, scored another Wolverine TD.
   The Ole Miss Rebels recovered from a heartbreaking Week 1 loss with a convincing 30-12 victory over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
   Quarterback Matt Moore threw touchdown passes to Michael Surace and Kierre Whittlesey to pace the Rebel offense. Cornerback Mark Kwiatek returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
   Ole Miss got rolling early as the offensive line opened wide holes in the Texas defense. Tyler Minter ran behind the blocks of Kyle Richardson and Collin Purdy for 50 first-half yards and a touchdown. They put together two more long drives, which ended with the Moore touchdown passes. Kwiatek’s first interception and return gave the Rebels a 24-0 halftime lead.
   The stingy Rebel defense controlled the line, and contained the Texas running game. First-year player PJ Catalano had several tackles for losses. Richardson and Surace each had 5 solo tackles. Defensive tackles Jackob Harmon and Michael Kaufman constantly penetrated the line and harassed the Texas quarterback.
   ”Our defense has played outstanding the last two weeks,” said Head Coach Russ Surace. “Today we played well in all phases — offense, defense and special teams. We are working hard to improve each week. The team should be very proud of themselves today.”
   Ole Miss will need meet the undefeated Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
   Division III (Grades 3-4)
   The Division III Princeton Tigers played a tough defensive game while falling, 12-0, to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 15 at the Triangle Road football complex.
   On defense Samir Guzman, Michael Hoffman, Luke Popaduik, Joey Schwarz and Cole Psemenski each illustrated strong skills on key plays. Adam Movshin, Ryan Vierbuchen, Patrick O’Kane, David Ortiz, Andrew Santa Barbara and James Vandervliet, also of the Princeton defense, played a solid game as well. The Princeton offense had a tough time asserting itself against a formidable Crimson Tide defense.
   Flag (Grades 1-2)
   Playing in the first Wednesday night game under the lights at the Triangle Road complex, the Broncos handled the Vikings, 28-0.
   The Broncos’ Dylan Siracusa took the first play of the game for a 40-yard run down the right side. Jonathan Lobello ran the next play for 15 yards and Jehki Williams tallied his first touchdown of the season on a QB sneak to the left. Lance Eilbacher ran the ball in for the extra point.
   The Broncos quickly got the ball back as the defense held tough behind the flag pulling of Nate Kondratiuk and Lance Eilbacher. Nate Kondratiuk ran for a 20-yard gain down the left side, setting up Max Treonze to score his first TD of the season. Dominick Monsormo ran the ball for the extra point.
   In the second half, the Broncos’ flag pulling of Jehki Williams, Logan Eilbacher, Brandon Lobello, Lance Eilbacher and Nate Kondratiuk the Broncos’ defense prevented the Vikings from getting into the end zone.
   Back on offense, a 30-yard run by Ryan Leary put the Broncos in scoring position. Tyler Jackson’s run for a first down set up Logan Eilbacher’s run down the right side and cut back to find the end zone for his second touchdown of the season. Brandon Lobello ran in for the extra point on a keeper.
   The Broncos’ scoring was capped off with a 70-yard run down the left sideline by Jehki Williams for his second touchdown of the game. Nate Kondratiuk kept the ball and scampered for the extra point.
   Excellent blocking by the Broncos’ offensive line helped keep the offense going under the lights.
   The Viking offense had a solid outing with key runs by Damian Candon and Nikolas Koll. These long runs were set up by key blocking by Owen Albert and Tommy Rice.
   On defense, James Barone led the team with the most flag pulls and Joshua Reilly used his speed on the corners for key defensive stops.
   Game MVPs for the Broncos were Jehki Williams and Nate Kondratiuk.
   The Broncos played again on Saturday, Sept. 15, blanking the tough and determined Lions, 26-0.
   The Broncos defense, led by Nate Kondratiuk, started the game with a tough stance, forcing the Lions offense to punt.
   On offense, the Broncos scored on a 75-yard TD run by Lance Eilbacher. QB Dominick Monsorno piloted the offense on the first series and ran around the right side to add the extra point.
   The Broncos offensive line continued its excellent blocking on the next series, opening holes that allowed Jehki Williams to go 90 yards for the second score.
   The Broncos defense continued to pull flags. Lance Eilbacher, Jehki Williams, Ryan Leary and Dominick Monsorno helped support Nate Kondratiuk in pulling flags throughout the game.
   Back on offense, Dylan Siracusa had two runs of 25 yards each and got into the end zone for the first time this season. Strong runs by Nate Kondratiuk helped set up a 10-yard touchdown run on a QB sneak by Max Treonze, his second TD of the season.
   The Broncos scoring was closed out by a 1-yard run by Ryan Leary, which was set up by a 30-plus yard run by Dominick Monsorno.
   Game MVPs for the Broncos were Dylan Siracusa and Dominick Monsorno.
   In Sept. 15, the 49ers brought their A-game to edge one of the more experienced teams, the Redskins, 7-6.
   On offense, Charlie Volpe, in one of the great plays in the flag league to date, stepped in front of the three defenders and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Shane Donoghue.
   Steven Kotz and Brian O’Kane provided great blocking throughout the day. The defense was led by Jake Battagliese, who not only stopped a drive with an interception, but ran a long distance to pull the flag on the last play to prevent a score.
   Patrick Irwin and Dylan Cace did a great job on the defensive line to make it difficult for the Redskins to run on their side of the field.
   Game MVP for the 49ers was Charlie Volpe.
   The SB United Bears excelled on both sides of the ball to shut out the Vikings, 26-0, on Sept. 15
   Big plays by Ryan Frauenheim, Christian O’Neal and Charles Wright, accompanied by a strong defense, led the Bears win.
   For the Vikings, Jayce Loniewski used his speed on a 35-yard sweep and Ryan Siwiec got free up the middle for 25 yards. The big running plays for the Vikings were set up by the blocking of Ryan Soli and Jack Storipan.
   On Viking defense, Matthew Gaspar led the way with 4 flag pulls, followed by Nickolas Koll and Jack McLaughlin, each with 3.
   ’Game MVP for the Bears was Christian O’Neal.
   Jr. Skylands Division
   Junior Varsity (Grades 5-6)
   It was a bounce-back win for the Jr. Raiders JV on Saturday night at Hillsborough High School as they defeated the Phillipsburg JV, 34-6.
   The Jr. Raiders displayed a balance they’ve been seeking. Rushing for a total of 185 yards and scoring 5 touchdowns, the Jr. Raiders offense was led by QB Matt Popaduik, who threw his first TD pass of the season, to Alex Marsh.
   The Jr. Raiders had strong running from Dylan Boczon (80 yards, 2 TDs), Ryan Gemignani (57 yards and a TD) and Chris Zickert (48 yards and a TD).
   The defense pitched a shutout of sorts, with P’burg’s lone TD coming on a kick return. A swarming Jr. Raiders defense held the Jr. Stateliners to just 15 yards rushing and 20 yards passing.
   Echoing the balance of the offense, Hillsborough received strong contributions from all three levels of defense. Linebackers Ryan Gemignani (5 tackles, 1 for loss), Michael Swetz (4 tackles, 2 for loss) and Dylan Boczon (3 tackles, 1 for loss) led the way. Cornerback Matt Michinard had the team’s first interception of the year, and the line was once again paced by Tommy Zdroik (2 tackles, both for loss), Norm Washington (3 tackles) and Jaden Bailey (2 tackles, 1 for loss).
   The Jr. Raiders JV (1-1) next head to Annandale and a stiff test from North Hunterdon.
