The Friends of the Hillsborough Library invites kids and adults to “Celebrate New Jersey” on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m.
In conjunction with the Somerset County Historical Society, author Linda Barth will be a guide to the Garden State’s places, history and present endeavors. Ms. Barth will also introduce her book, “Hidden New Jersey.”
Through September, the library is hosting a traveling panel exhibition on Abraham Lincoln.
The exhibition, “A Man of His Time, A Man For All Times,” includes high-quality reproductions of documents and images that trace Lincoln’s life and legacy.

Disaster planning Shannon Snook from the Somerset County Office of Emergency Management will review a 72-hour preparedness plan, and how to assemble a sample emergency kit. ’Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
Decluttering Author/ organizer Jamie Novak reveals her 3-step system to clearing clutter and making money while you’re at it. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
Musical tribute Tom Doyle and Sandy Cory perform a tribute to Les Paul and Mary Ford. Mr. Doyle, a sound performance engineer/guitarist for Mr. Paul for more than 40 years, will share stories. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5.
Book sale Used books and media at amazing prices. (Scanners are allowed beginning at 11:30 a.m.) Sponsored by Friends of the Hillsborough Library to benefit the library. Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Toddler Time for 2’s and 3’s: Introduce the pleasure of books to your child with stories, songs. This week topic is “counting.” No registration is required. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m.
Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) Brand-new readers will discuss a book, do activities and make a craft. Please read the book before the program. ’The program on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. will be on “‘Mr. Putter and Tabby Ring the Bell.”
Art Adventures (ages 4-6) Learn about famous artists and take your own masterpiece home. (Some projects may be messy, so dress in play clothes.) This program is on symmetry. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m.
Crafts for 4’s, 5’s and 6’s (ages 4-6) Make a self-portrait craft with your preschool or kindergarten child. Thursday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m.
