A North 6th Avenue man called at 8:52 a.m. Sept. 10 to say his pit bull had bitten his unchained neighbor’s dog, which had run up to it. Patrolman Todd Widitz spoke to the neighbor, who lives on Duke’s Parkway, who said she did not take her dog for treatment. Animal control was advised of the incident.
Adesa Auto Auction reported recovering seven vehicles during the week.
At 11:06 a.m. Sept. 10 they said they had a 2003 Cadillac police found to be stolen in New York City. Police in the city were notified.
On Sept. 11 Adesa reported three vehicles: a 2007 Toyota Tundra stolen in Paterson; a 2008 Toyota Avalon taken in New York City and a 2007 Toyota Highlander taken in Franklin Lakes. Police in all places were notified.
On Friday, Adesa reported three recovered stolen vehicles — two 2006 Dodge Chargers and 2006 Nissan, all taken from New York City — on its lot. Teletypes were sent to New York police.
At 5:45 p.m. Sept. 10 a woman who wanted to be anonymous dropped off a brown wallet belonging to a Knopf Street woman, who was called and retrieved it.
A woman called police at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and said her vehicle had been the victim of a hit-and-run in the Dunkin’ Donuts lot off South Main Street. A possible fleeing vehicle was described as a Nissan Sentra with damage on the passenger side.
A man was banned from high school property after principal Dr. James Brunn reported that a man was caught drinking from the girls’ soccer team water cooler at 4 p.m. Sept. 10. Officers spoke to the man, 53, on North 14th Avenue.
A caller reported a group of eight teenagers yelling obscenities at Dunkin’ Donuts at 10:05 p.m. Sept. 11. They were gone by the time patrols got there.
At 7:47 Sept. 12 a Pope Street woman reported her vehicle’s windshield had been broken with a beer bottle sometime overnight.
A North 7th Avenue man came to headquarters at 9:08 a.m. Sept. 12 to say he had received a suspicious message on his laptop computer. Patrols said it appeared to be a computer virus.
Nicole Bruno, 43, of Manville was charged with shoplifting from Walmart on North Main Street at 2:43 p.m. Sept. 12. Unable to post $500 bail, she was taken to the Somerset County Jail.
A Cedar Street woman called at 12:20 a.m. Sept. 13 to say a neighbor on North 10th Avenue was screaming at other neighbors. Patrols responded and said the man was only talking on the phone.
A woman said at 8:06 a.m. Sept. 13 that the front door to her North 8th Avenue residence was open, with no one around. Patrol responded and said it appeared all locks are getting changed at the abandoned residence for sale.
A North 6th Avenue woman came to headquarters at 9 a.m. Sept. 13 to report that her vehicle had been damaged with a key over the last few months by someone unknown.
Mark Zagaja, 19, and Andrew Tawfik, 18, both of Manville were charged with possession of suspected marijuana at 9:44 a.m. Sept. 13 on Beekman Street. They were released after paperwork.
At 2:21 p.m. Sept. 13 a man reported a theft of a briefcase at Adesa Auto Auction between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. In the briefcase were a checkbook, numerous vehicle titles and a reassignment book, with a $350 value.
A Brooks Boulevard man went to back to school night and discovered his ex-wife had registered their 17-year-old daughter in a school in Ocean City, Md., without his permission, he told police at headquarters at 4:07 p.m. Sept. 13. He wanted the information on the record.
A caller reported a gray Dodge with heavy damage parked on Boesel Avenue just before 9 p.m. Sept. 13. Patrols found a car missing a door and fender and spoke to the owner, who said she had hit a guardrail on Weston Canal Road. Franklin Township police were notified.
A North 9th Avenue woman called twice just after midnight Sept. 14 to say her house was getting hit by rocks. Police said a second-floor bathroom window was smashed. Estimated repair cost was $200. She came to headquarters at 9:41 p.m. Sept. 14 to report numerous dents to her aluminum siding, at an unknown repair cost.
Numerous callers alerted police to a motorcycle down on North Main Street at 6:51 a.m. Friday. The male driver, 46, who lives in an apartment on South Reading Street, was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
A West Camplain Road woman called at 8:54 a.m. Friday to say her boyfriend was punching holes in her wall. Police arrested the 24-year-old man for criminal mischief and domestic violence. Bail was set at $1,000.
A patrol car was flagged down on South Main at South 5th Avenue at 8:11 p.m. Friday and the Sterling driver said a gold Chrysler Sebring scratched his bumper and left the scene. He didn’t want police to get involved, except to put it on the record.
A caller at 8:29 p.m. Friday said her vehicle was hit in front of her West Camplain Road address and left the scene.
Two men were fighting on Washington Avenue at 10:14 p.m. Friday. A resident of the street was taken to Somerset Medical Center with a cut on his arm. The alleged assailant was gone when police arrived. The victim was later given a citizen’s complaint form.
A caller came into headquarters at 11:12 p.m. Friday to report a theft of a female’s black wallet with $50 in cash, credit cards and personal papers.
A caller at 8:45 a.m. Saturday said he had hit a dog on Brooks Boulevard at North 7th Avenue. No people were injured. Animal control was called to remove the dog. Firefighters washed down the road. The dog’s owner was on the scene.
A woman came to headquarters at 12:24 p.m. Saturday and asked to speak to an officer about a two-year-old restraining order. After five minutes, she said she didn’t have time to wait and left.
A woman came to headquarters at 12:42 p.m. Saturday to report that an hour earlier a man had knocked on her door of her South Reading Street apartment looking for a tenant who lived there two years ago. She wanted it on the record.
A caller said at 8:33 p.m. Saturday that a man fraudulently refunded four tickets for cash at the Reading Cinema. Patrols talked to 15- and 17-year-olds, who said they were unaware of the man’s intention. The incident was put for the record.
Eduardo Olivares-Gamboa, 37, of an East Camplain Road apartment was charged with possession of fireworks at 9:26 p.m. Saturday and released with a summons.
A Brooks Boulevard caller at 8:43 p.m. Sunday said he had found five ground beef balls coated with green pellets that appeared to be rat poison. Patrols said the laced meatballs were in the side yard where the caller’s dogs played, but was unable to determine their source.
A Rabens Avenue woman came to headquarters at 2 p.m. Sunday to report losing her New Jersey driver’s license, possibly in Atlantic City, the previous day.
Kids playing basketball at Roosevelt School at 10:26 p.m. Sunday were sent on their way.
