Denise Nichols, president, Hopewell Valley Education Foundation
The Hopewell Valley Education Foundation’s mission is to enhance the educational experience of the students in the Hopewell Valley public schools.
We respond to needs brought to the foundation in the form of funding requests from district teachers, staff and administrators.
In the 2011-12 school year, we were able to fund over $30,000 worth of programs across all curricular areas and all district schools.
We would especially like to highlight the philanthropy of our local businesses who have generously supported the foundation: The Bank of Princeton, Capitol Health, Cream King, Educational Testing Service, The Front Porch, Hopewell Valley Community Bank, Hygeia Consulting Group, The Maida Foundation, Pennington Quality Market, Revolution Prep and Volvo of Edison.
Thank you for your generosity; it has made a positive change for many students!
Some of the 12 programs we were able to fund this year were:
National Arrive Alive, a program teaching high school students about the dangers of distracted driving.
An iPad pilot project for basic skills students at Timberlane.
Guided Reading books for high-interest/low-level readers.
Math Exemplars for all elementary schools.
We look forward to continuing the partnership with our community, corporations, parents and schools. By engaging the entire community in philanthropic giving, we can strengthen our public schools, support our teachers and inspire our students.
