To the editor:
We urge Princeton voters, especially parents of elementary school children, to vote yes on the school bond referendum on Monday, Sept. 24.
As hard as it is to believe, before you know it your elementary student will be entering John Witherspoon Middle School. There they will join an engaged, diverse student body taught by an excellent faculty and headed by an energetic, student-focused principal. When they do, your children deserve a school building that provides an efficient, up-to-date learning environment, one on par with the top-notch JW students and teachers and conducive to the innovative, collaborative learning we all demand for our children learning that prepares them for success at our outstanding high school.
The proposed bond will fund projects to sustain and enhance learning opportunities for all our children at every building, every day. One of the most important of these projects is adapting the currently under-used “old gym” in the center of the middle school into a much-needed new media center. For too long, our wonderful middle school has been without an adequate library. This referendum addresses that glaring need at the lowest possible cost. It will also fund technology wiring infrastructure in all buildings; more high school classroom space; refurbished athletic facilities; and safety and efficiency improvements in elementary buildings and playgrounds.
Please vote yes on Monday, Sept. 24, so that our school facilities can continue to meet our community’s high educational standards.
