Armstrong backed
in softball dispute
To the editor:
I have been under the weather recently and just stumbled onto the writings about the softball fund raiser at the high school fields.
I, for one, am very grateful that we have a Mayor and Council in place that saw the situation for what it was and acted decisively and correctly. Anyone familiar with personnel matters involving public employees would know there are steps to be followed to not only protect the employee but also the borough at large.
With regard to the employee in question, I wonder if those that wish to rub his nose in the dirt had ever taken the time to visit his office and spend a day on the job with him. If they did that, I doubt without question they would want any part of the hard work that our recreation director performs every day.
Mr. Rich Armstrong is my ex-son-in-law. On Nov. 4, 2011, I found out I had a battle for my life on my hands. Upon contacting my daughters and son, my daughter called Rich. The very first person ringing my doorbell was Rich Armstrong, offering any and whatever help I might be needing. That is just one example of the kind of person he really is.
Politically I have always been a middle of-the-roader but as the mayor correctly commented in his letter to the editor, the public rantings in these regards are inspired by politics. Kudos to the Mayor and Council, and Mayor Corradino in particular, for rising above that abyss.
