Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce – Women in Business will host an event on Oct. 2 at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to Kathy Lo Bue of Dumont and Blake Investment Advisors and chair of the Women in Business, there will be several speakers: Dr. Lori Gormley from Her Space Breast Imaging Associates, Eatontown; Bernice Garfield Szita, co-founder of Grief Information Education and Recovery Services; registered dietician, Jennifer Csontos from CentraState Healthcare Center; survivor speaker Madeleine Hoberman, along with her husband Bob Hoberman, who will discuss “A Man’s Perspective” – coping with a spouse who is living with the challenges of cancer and how he faced this deadly disease.

Jessica Jundef, a technology teacher at the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County, Marlboro, has been selected by Google to attend the Google Teacher Academy in New York City on Oct. 3.

Google-certified teachers are considered exceptional K-12 educators with a passion for using innovative tools to improve teaching and learning, as well as creative leaders and ambassadors for change. They are recognized experts and widely admired for their commitment to high expectations for students, lifelong learning and collaboration.

The Google Teacher Academy is a free professional development experience designed to help K-12 educational leaders get the most from innovative technologies.

Each academy is a one-day event where participants get hands-on experience with Google’s products and technologies, learn about innovative instructional strategies, and receive resources to share with colleagues. Upon completion, academy participants become Google-certified teachers who share what they learn with other K-12 educators in their local regions and beyond.

What a Tablet Can Do for Your Business,” a seminar for small business owners and executives, will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. Oct. 2 in Room 104 at the Western Monmouth Higher Education Center of Brookdale Community College, Freehold Township. A continental breakfast is included from 8-8:30 a.m.

Candice Theinert and Keith Belitrand, tablet device specialists from Verizon Wireless, will give attendees a comprehensive overview of the latest tablet technology, demonstrate how to use the business applications designed for a tablet, and show how Verizon’s technology can assist businesses with the increasing demands of mobile productivity.

In addition to the seminar, representatives will be on hand to explain programs such as Microsoft Office 365, a new mobile small business tool; information about technology that links and transmits data from one machine to another; examples of wireless uses for mobile data; and information about how to link business and personal life.

Xplosive Entertainment of Manalapan, an event planning and DJ company, recently donated its entertainment services to the Dennis Bligen Kidney Foundation’s inaugural Gift of Life benefit gala that was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Long Island, N.Y. Honoree Dennis Bligen, a former running back for the New York Jets, is fighting kidney disease. The goal of the benefit was to raise funds and awareness about kidney disease and the need for suitable donors.

Xplosive Entertainment is headed by Jordan Marshall. In recent years, Xplosive has joined forces with Total Entertainment of Carlstadt. The Total Entertainment umbrella includes the Stan Allen Orchestras (Manalapan), Xplosive Entertainment (Manalapan), and Jason Craig Entertainment (West Orange).

Kathleen Clark of Howell has been promoted to branch manager at First Financial Federal Credit Union in Toms River. Clark began her employment with First Financial Federal Credit Union in 2010, where she served as assistant branch manager of the Howell and Freehold branches. In 2011, she was named assistant manager of the Toms River branch. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at the branch, as well as business development, attending community events, increasing the loan and deposit base, and the overall success of the Toms River branch. Clark, who grew up in Jackson and earned a business degree with honors from Harcourt Learning Direct, brings more than 30 years of banking and management experience to her new role.

The Howell Chamber of Commerce will host a Breakfast Bonanza networking event from 8-9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at Chick-fil- A, 4881 Route 9 north, Howell. Guest speakers Eileen Colelli and Dayna Carlo from New Jersey Press Media Solutions will discuss social media and advertising.
